How Autumn House Can Help You
Autumn House offers services to women who have been abused by an intimate partner (husband, boyfriend, common law spouse, same sex partner).
These Services Include:
shelter for women and children
counselling and information on abuse and its effects
advocacy: help in accessing community resources such as financial assistance, police, lawyers, children's services, etc.
accompaniment to court and professional appointments
Ourselves support group.
Note: Counselling and advocacy services are available whether or not a woman uses the shelter service.
About Autumn House:
staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year phone lines open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year there is no charge for services
the service is confidential
Outreach Services: We can arrange to meet with you in your community.
Children's Outreach Program - offering services to children who are affected by family violence:
share and learn counselling sessions
discussions and workbook activities
support and information
children's group.
New Directions - providing assistance to men who abuse their partners:
New Directions is a program of the Cumberland County Transition House Association. We are a closed group program that covers 20 or moretopics. We meet once a week for 2 hours. There are 10-12 men in the group. Confidentiality is respected which creates a safe environment for you to come and share your experiences, explore your options, and work on changing your abusive behaviour. Call us at 902-667-4500

Our Purpose
To Eliminate Violence Against Women in
Nova Scotia by:
- Working collaboratively with other equality seeking organizations, and the three levels of government, to address barriers that prevent women, and their children from living free of Violence and Abuse
- Advocating for sufficient programs, services and funding for Transition Houses in Nova Scotia
- Increasing public awareness of Violence and Abuse in our society
- Conducting and/or participating in Feminist Participatory Research
- Providing training and networking opportunities for Boards and Staff of our Member Organizations
